Australia is a diverse and multicultural country. It is the sixth largest country in the world and its original inhabitants, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, have been living in Australia for at least 40,000 years. Australia's population of more than 21 million people, is made up of 43% of people that were either born overseas or have one parent who was born overseas. There are over 200 different languages and dialects spoken in Australia, including 45 indigenous languages.
If you are not an Australian citizen and wish to migrate to Australia, work in Australia or visit Australia you will need to obtain an Australian Visa. The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) are responsible for granting visas to enable non citizens to enter Australia.
Priority Processing for ENS & RSMS visas: DIAC has experienced a very high level of demand for ENS/RSMS visas which has resulted in lengthy processing delays. As at January, 2011 DIAC processing times can be up to seven or eight months! In an attempt to better manage the large caseload, DIAC recently introduced “priority processing” for registered Australian Migration Agents.
When Registered Migration Agents certify that an RSMS or ENS application is “decision-ready” the application will be immediately allocated to a case officer for processing. If the application is not decision ready it will be receive normal processing and go into DIAC’s lengthy processing queue.
To access priority processing, the application must be fully documented, which means when it is lodged all required documents and information is included with the application, ie the Immigration Officer can pick up the file and does not need to ask for any outstanding information. Outstanding Police clearances often delay applications, so you need to apply for overseas penal or police clearances as soon as possible.
This DIAC initiative is a great opportunity for visa applicants. For further information go to our "Employer Sponsored Visa" page and Contact us to discuss your options!
