The Skilled Occupation List (SOL)
This list confirms whether your nominated occupation comes under the General Skilled Migration (GSM) and the Skilled Occupation List (SOL).
The Critical Skill List (CSL)
This list only applies to people who are seeking to migrate under the skilled migration program and who are not sponsored by an employer or nominated by a state or territory government. It was developed in consultation with state and territory governments and the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). It includes building trades, information technology professionals, engineers and medical professionals the CSL is a smaller list of occupations developed

NEW State Migration Plans

State Migration Plans are being introduced for each state and territory over the coming months.

The plans will provide state and territory governments with flexibility within the Migration Program to address specific skill shortages and local labour market needs as each agreement will be tailored to the individual requirements of each jurisdiction.

State and Territory governments may nominate visa applicants who have an occupation that is in shortage in their particular State or Territory. It may be useful for you to check the websites of each State or Territory government to see if your occupation is on their skills shortage list.

IELTS

JT Aussie Visa Solutions Your level of English can determine whether you pass or fail the points test and if you score 7 or higher in each of the four categories you can obtain 25 points. (ie 10 additional points over the competent or vocational levels which have a 15 point.) In order to do so you will need to sit the IELTS.

Test Structure
All candidates must complete four Modules - Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking to obtain an IELTS Test Report Form and all candidates take the same Listening and Speaking Modules. There is a choice between Academic and General Training in the Reading and Writing Modules. The Total Test Time is 2 hours 45 minutes. The IELTS website provides vital information for applicants.
Academic or General Training
IELTS is available in two formats Academic and General Training. The Academic Reading and Writing Modules assess whether a candidate is ready to study or train in the medium of English at an undergraduate or postgraduate level. Admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses is based on the results of these Modules.

General Training is suitable for candidates who are going to English speaking countries to complete their secondary education, to undertake work experience or training programs not at degree level, or for immigration purposes to Australia. It is the responsibility of the candidate to inform the test centre whether they wish to take the Academic or General Training Modules.

The Centre for Macquarie English (CME) has produced two new, innovative online preparation courses for the IELTS test. These are the perfect training tools that can be accessed 24 hours, 7 days a week from around the globe.
1. IELTS Express is a quick and complete preparation and practice course that provides training in all 4 modules with 2 full practice tests.
